M46 PHOTO FLASH REPLICA DESCRIPTION
All Replica bombs are build from light weight composite materials and aluminum or steel components. The fins are constructed from steel and spot welded together. The suspension lug straps are steel and bolted the bomb casing. All threads are identical and interchangeable with the genuine article. Metal fins are powder coated. Composite parts are coated with gelcoat which is more durable then paint. The gel coat used is UV stabilized and can handle prolonged exposure to harsh weather and from people poking and prodding. This replica can be suspended from its lugs for static display or in bomb bays of flying aircraft, NOT for wing mounted flying aircraft. Call us for those. Replica fuses and arming wires are sold separately.

The photo flash is used for night photography. Its developed so that planes engaged in night photography reconnaissance need not be limited to low altitude but at any desired altitude.
It has 2 suspension bands for wing mounted racks and bomb rack shackle suspension. It has box fins with a square drag plate. Fuses used: M111, M111A1, M111A2, M146.
OPERATION
When the bomb is dropped the arming wire that secures the fuse is pulled, starting the mechanical time fuse. When the time set on the fuse has elapsed, the flashlight powder is ignited by the fuse. the resulting flash of light lasts for about .20 seconds and has a peak intensity of approx. 500,000,000 candlepower.
